Here are some tips that you ABSOLUTELY must follow, when you call your family and friends back home in India. Run through this quick check list to make sure you are not committing any common calling bloopers!
1. Time Check: Do keep the time difference in mind, before you call India. The last thing you want to do is to wake up your dad at 4 AM, and get a good yelling!
2. Talking Loudly: Yes we know you have called home, but the rest of the North American continent does not need to. The quality of our reception is so clear, that you can even whisper and still be heard!
3. Don’t kill two birds with one stone: By this we mean, don’t talk and drive.
4. Remember your conversation is not part of the movie: So zip it while you are at the movies.
5. When the number you are calling is not answered quickly, wait long enough for someone to put aside what he or she is doing so they can answer the call on the fixed phone. Nothing bugs a person more than to pick up the phone and find that the caller has hung up!
6. Switch off your phone in a business meeting or keep it on silent
7. Avoid emotional conversations in public. It is embarrassing – for you and the people around you.
8. Don't use loud and annoying ring tones that destroy concentration and eardrums. Grow up!
